GHOSTS AND SAINTS OF OLDE TOWNE SMITHFIELD

This is a one day event in Smithfield’s Historic District with multiple programs relating to Smithfield’s history. The 1750 Isle of Wight Courthouse is sponsoring 2 programs. First is a free Shadow Puppet show telling the story of Elizabeth Bennett Young saving the county records during the British invasion in the Revolution. Shows are at 1:00. 1:30 and 2:00 p.m. at the Courthouse. The second is the very popular Ghost Walk throughout the historic district where participants meet actors portraying local persons in the early days of the county and relay stories of their exploits in building the area. Walks begin at the Courthouse every 15 minutes from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Adults $8, children 6-12 $5. Advance tickets available at the Visitor Center. Remaining tickets, if any, sold after 7 p.m. at the Courthouse.
