Partner Program: Madison Vision Series

The Madison Vision Series will bring renowned scholars, thinkers, and leaders to campus to help the JMU community engage with contemporary issues and to explore the relevance and importance of liberal arts and sciences to education. The 2019 Commemoration is partnering with JMU on the series during the commemorative year, with guests that will speak to and exemplify the themes of democracy, diversity, and opportunity.
February 7th @ 3:30 PM: Former Virginia Supreme Court Justice John Charles Thomas will discuss the past, present and future of Virginia’s democracy within the context of his own experience as an attorney and as the first African American Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.
April 1st, Time TBD: Dr. Barbara Schaal, Dean of the Faculty of Arts & Sciences and Professor of Biology will speak to the opportunity theme of the Commemoration.
