Join us in commemorating the 400th Anniversary of the First Official Thanksgiving in North America!
Enjoy Thanksgiving-inspired public programming, free and open to the public, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on December 4th, the anniversary of the first official Thanksgiving in the United States. This will be the final public event of the commemorative year.
Featured Speaker: Michelle Gielan
Michelle Gielan, a national CBS News anchor turned positive psychology researcher, will give the featured address at the 400th Commemorative ceremony on December 4th. Gielan speaks to Fortune 500 companies, schools and organizations about the power of positive communication to drive success and fuel happiness. She is the bestselling author of Broadcasting Happiness, Founder of the Institute for Applied Positive Research, an Executive Producer of “The Happiness Advantage” special on PBS and a featured professor in Oprah’s Happiness course.
Special Remarks: Pamela Northam
Pamela Northam, the First Lady of Virginia, will be giving special remarks. An educator, environmentalist and longtime advocate, Mrs. Northam has taken a leading role in Hampton Roads and Virginia to protect water quality and improve the health of the Chesapeake Bay.

Also, The Virginia Peninsula Foodbank and American Evolution are partnering for a one-day, onsite food drive at the ceremony to benefit local area food banks. Help those in need this holiday season by bringing non-perishable food donations for the “Share the Spirit of Thanksgiving” initiative.
