Presidential Ideas Festival: Democracy in Dialogue
University of Virginia, Charlottesville
May 21-23, 2019

A second democracy-related event at the University of Virginia shared the limelight with the Global Pathfinder Summit and provided opportunities for Summit attendees to hear from high-ranking American political leaders. This scholarly event, hosted by the University of Virginia’s Miller Center, convened political leaders, top scholars, and students for a three-day event to explore three streams of the Presidency at a Crossroads: The Presidency and the Constitution, the Presidency and Policymaking, and the Presidency and the People. Each day was anchored by at least two plenary panels featuring Cabinet-level former administration officials and all sessions were organized as laboratories through which participants with various points of view deconstructed the issues and emerged with proposed solutions.
