A legacy project of the 2019 Commemoration, Evolution of America: 1619 to Today is a one-hour documentary that explores the four historical events that occurred in 1619, and the impact they had on the growth and development of the United States. Supported by approximately 16 minutes of narration, the majority of the documentary features interviews with Virginia and national leaders who discuss how the 1619 events are reflected in contemporary American society. It was produced in partnership with Cinebar Productions, Inc. and Maryland Public Television, which serves as the presenting PBS station for national marketing and distribution.
