The Commonwealth of Virginia invited all Americans to “Come Home to Virginia” for the Virginia Customs, Cultures, and Cuisine Festival during the month of November 2019. Visitors and locals alike enjoyed a variety of premier events, festivals, and special programming that drew on 400 years of Virginia’s unique history and culture. The Festival included more than 40 separate events and drew more than 31,000 participants, far exceeding planners’ goals. Assisted by the Virginia Tourism Corporation, American Evolution awarded “2019 Commemoration Finale Grants” to 19 organizations that took the lead in producing diverse November programming that highlighted the best of Virginia customs, culture, and cuisine.
